CRISP-DM and Skylab USA

Skylab USA outperformed Facebook by 730 times and Instagram by over 16 times. The data architecture that produced those results is documented here.
Co-authored by Dean Grey and Dr. Alfred J. Nigl, PhD, this paper documents the adoption of the Cross-Industry Standard Process for Data Mining (CRISP-DM) as the data architecture standard for Skylab USA. CRISP-DM is a six-phase iterative process model used by over 40% of data scientists globally, designed to be applied by non-specialists and focused on business outcomes rather than technical complexity.
The paper documents Skylab's application of CRISP-DM to organize, process and analyze behavioral data across its platform — producing brand engagement rates that outperformed Facebook by 730 times and Instagram by over 16 times at comparable user scales. With 27,989 downloads placing Skylab in the top 85% of all apps released at the time, the paper establishes the data infrastructure underpinning the Value Reinforcement System (VRS).
